Thank you for your interest in the Adweek Executive Mentor Program! Please see below for a list of frequently asked questions.
What is the Adweek Executive Mentor Program?
The 2022 Adweek Executive Mentor Program was born out of the Adweek’s DEI Council initiative to help advance diversity, equity and inclusion within the C-Suite. Through a qualitative matching process, we pair mid- to senior-level marketers with top CMOs and C-Suite members for 1:1 mentorship to help accelerate their career goals.
What are the requirements to apply for the program?
Eligible program candidates are professionals with ten or more years of marketing, advertising or related experience (typically sr. manager to vp-level). Ideal candidates are those who are eager to take their career to the next level and are seeking outside-in perspective and guidance to help them grow. Applicants must be registered on Adweek.com and there is no cost to apply. Former mentees are eligible to apply again if they’ve only been through one round of the program.
What will I get out of this program?
If selected, you will receive (three) 45-minute mentor sessions (via phone or virtually) with your assigned mentor between May and October 2022. You will also become part of a community of mentee peers to learn from and connect with via dedicated slack channel and meet-ups. There will also be opportunities to further your growth and professional development through topical group mentorship sessions and special opportunities exclusivity for mentees.
What’s the timeframe for the program?
Mentee-mentor matching will happen in mid-April and all selected participants will be notified by end of April. The program officially kicks off in May and ends in October 2022.
When will I know if I’m accepted into the program?
You will receive an email at the end of April 2022.
How can I help my chances of getting one of my top 3 mentor choices? How are they matched?
While we can’t guarantee you’ll receive one of your top choices, we do our best to match as many selected mentees with at least one of their top choices as we can. Your pitch for each mentor should be specific, personal and speak to A) the areas where you need the most guidance and B) How/why that mentor is best suited to help you.
What if the mentor or mentee isn’t the right “fit” for my needs?
The mentor program has a history of strong matches and the Adweek team is committed to helping with the connections. If you experience any communication or follow-up issues with your mentor/mentees, please reach out to the program representative who can offer solutions and tools to improve the relationship and/or experience.
May I continue to communicate with my mentor after 6 months?
Of course! Beyond the 6-month mark, mentor/mentee relationships may continue based on the mutual interest of both people. Officially, the program concludes after six months, but some of the best mentoring relationships continue well past the end of any formal timeframe. Please discuss with your mentor to determine the best solution.
